Check and inspect, at random, castings at molds and follow these molds through process area to completion, using process sheets, inspection plans, control plans, and blueprints.
2. Work with supervisors and operators in all production areas.
3. One hundred per cent inspection required on some castings including returned castings.
4. Operate inspection equipment: hardness tester, tensile tester, X-ray equipment, depth gauge, micrometer, and any other precision instrument required of an inspector.
5. Check castings to blue print specifications.
6. Inspect and stamp reject castings.
7. Pour test bars, take gas samples, and determine gas level.
| | Job Requirements | | 1. Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time.
2. Strength in arms and legs to handle castings and inspection equipment weighing between 5-40 pounds. Also, strength in arms and legs required to maneuver manually operated material handling equipment.
3. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
4. Ability to write legibly.
5. Proficiency in general math, for the development and maintenance of statistical process control (SPC) charts, as well as for the use and reading of inspection measuring equipment.
